I visited the new Welgemoed Community Market at De Oude Social Café last Saturday and was really impressed by their set up. They have a great selection of stalls, with a kids’ play area, jumping castle, and seating right in the middle of the market, giving it a very vibey, relaxed feel.
The views and greenery is great, which adds to the ambiance, and what I personally love about markets, is when there is shade, and the loos are close-by. The market is positioned right next to the restaurant, giving you access to all their facilities, including their meals, drinks and tap room. You can grab yourself a pizza or burger with a craft beer, G&T or a bottle of wine and just chill out.
After chatting to Eva Beaconos (market owner pictured below, with Galia Lacovou – owner of De Oude Social Cafe), she confirmed that the market will be hosting 14 additional vendors this weekend, so pop in for a visit. For the rugby fans, you can sit in their tap room whilst the kids play in safety outside.
There is parking in the front, at the back, around the side, at the Karate club and they have people there to wash your car, whilst you ‘kuier’.
Find them in Welgemoed, behind the Karate club.
