I visit the olive bistro regularly, so on Wednesday night, a friend and I went for dinner and ran into this table of very spirited and friendly ladies, begging me to photograph them! (I’m joking, I insisted!)
Nevertheless, I had a craving for Eisbein, so ordered it, because I KNOW, their Eisbeins are THE BEST in Durbanville (in my opinion) and they’re HUGE, as you can see. They always look like this (crispy on the outside, tender on the inside), served with Saurkraut, mash and mustard sauce. I know I can never finish it, always managing to eat only a third, because I take the rest home for lunch the next day and my son (who also LOVES the Eisbein).
It’s really good value for money, for just R139, which comes with a free Edringer draught (which I didn’t take coz I don’t drink beer).
The pics attached are what the restaurant typically looks like at night in summer, and during the day. There is always such a great vibe!
Find them on the corner of queen and Main Roads, Durbanville. If their parking is full, there is loads more parking available in the field next door in Queen Street.
