I am thrilled to have discovered a nursery in Durbanville, which I have so often driven passed, but decided to visit on Saturday.

D’Ville Garden Centre, a mere 10km from the centre of town, on Klipheuwel Road, is home to so many fruit trees, herbs, water wise plants and succulents. Their prices are excellent, with plants being available in black bags or pots.

I am in the process of turning my balcony into a green sanctuary, with loads of hanging water-wise plants, so ended up buying 5 hanging pots, for R89 each. What a bargain!

My original plan was to purchase fake green hanging plants and greenery, but it turns out the fake variety is more expensive! Can you believe it?! Now lies the task of trying to suspend these gems from my balcony ceiling in a creative and beautiful manner. Watch this space!

They house a variety of sun and shade loving plants, cacti, fynbos, fruit trees & flowers, pots, planters and garden accessories. They also have quite a number of greenhouses, where plants are propagated, then moved for potting and selling.

Find them on Klipheuwel road, just passed the R312 to Phisantekraal, to your right.

They’re open from Monday – Saturday, 9am – 5pm, and until 1pm Sundays.
